Activities

This extra-curricular activity is open to all students in grades 3 through 4. It is held as a before or after school club and culminates with the Lancaster County Envirothon competition which is held in May at County Park. At the competition students test what they have learned in the club in teams of five.

Each spring all students who wish to do so are able to perform in an all school talent show. In the past, students have displayed their talents through song, dance, instrumental music, drama, poetry, and comedy.

This problem-solving program allows students to form teams to creatively come up with a solution to a very specific problem. In March these teams compete against others in the regional competition. If they place first and second, they are able to go on to a state competition. In the Spring of 2004, a team from Brecht did go on to States.

In the spring of each school year all Brecht students have the opportunity to participate in this event. It is similar to a science fair, however, student projects can be in any subject area. It is not juried, and all students receive a certificate and ribbon for their participation.
