Welcome Back to School!
The MTSD Administration, School Board, and our entire staff hope your family had an excellent summer. We are excited to welcome our students back to school on Tuesday, August 25th. We hope this school year will be an exciting and fulfilling year for your family.
We are planning to schedule early dismissals for the first week of school – Tuesday, August 25 through Friday, August 28. Early dismissals allow students to transition back to school with more ease, and promote opportunities for teachers and students to establish relationships, learn routines and safety protocols, and become oriented to Schoology, Seesaw, and other instructional platforms. It also offers more time for professional development for staff during the afternoons. Students in Grades 7-12 will begin the school year by following our Yellow phase for educational programming which includes a hybrid schedule with split attendance for the first three weeks of school (August 25-September 11) with the goal to transition fully to the Green Phase by September 14th.
The information posted on this page is an overview of helpful “back-to-school” information to help prepare your family for the first day of school. During the first week of school, students receive a packet of important information from your child’s school. Please read this information carefully to better acquaint yourself with policies, procedures and day-to-day school operations. We also offer an online calendar with up-to-date information on district events.

Bus Information
Bus routing information is mailed to every eligible student by mid-August. Students may only ride on their assigned buses and only Manheim Township students are permitted to ride the buses. A student needs written authorization from the district to ride on any bus except the one to which he or she is assigned.
Students should be at their designated stop ten minutes before the scheduled pick up time. Please be patient the first several days of school as buses generally run behind schedule the first several days. Historically, the schedules fall into place within two weeks and we ask that requests for changes be made in writing after this adjustment period.
The District encourages adult supervision at the bus stop for younger, immature or new riders. The District also recommends a yearly review of safety concerns with your children. Students are expected to follow the same behavior guidelines on the bus as they do in their school. Audio and video recorders are on each bus and any inappropriate behavior may result in the revocation of bus riding privileges. The cooperation of the contractor, drivers, parents, students and administration is critical for the safe and efficient operation of our transportation service.
Please contact Brightbill Transportation with any bus operation concerns at 519-1506. Scheduling and routing concerns should be directed to the transportation coordinator at 560-3114 or transportation@mtwp.net.

When weather conditions develop during the day and the district decides to close schools early, high school and middle school students will be dismissed first, followed by Landis Run students and then elementary students. Parents of elementary students should have an emergency plan prepared in case of an early dismissal.
We always keep the safety of our students and staff forefront in our decision-making, however sometimes, as we all know, the weather throws us a curve ball. Please remember to always check our website, and sign-up for News Flashes, to receive up-to-date information on closings and delays.
